About the role

As an Accountant at Butterfield (M) Sdn Bhd, you will be responsible for the full range of financial accounting and reporting duties. This full-time role is based in Bukit Minyak, Penang and will play a key part in supporting the company's growth and financial management.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and bank reconciliation, closing stock costing, debtors statements
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and accounts in compliance with accounting standards and statutory regulations. Candidates with experience in preparing and finalising full set of accounts are highly preferred.
  • Supporting the month-end, quarterly and year-end closing process
  • Assisting with the preparation of budget reports and variance analysis
  • Providing financial data and insights to support business decision-making
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial laws, regulations and internal policies
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and controls

What we're looking for

  • Accounting degree or equivalent with 3-5 years' post-qualification experience
  • Proven experience in a similar financial accounting and reporting role, ideally within the manufacturing and trading industry and/or group accounts
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices and financial regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in using financial software and spreadsheet applications
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
