About the Project

Join a multidisciplinary team working on a
low-cost Edge-AI prototype for speech-based depression screening
—a Prototype Development Research Grant Scheme (PRGS 2025) funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

Role Summary

As a Research Officer, you will support data collection, speech signal processing, and AI model development; assist in prototype design and testing; prepare technical reports and publications; and collaborate closely with engineers, IT specialists, and healthcare experts to deliver a functional prototype.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech and AI experiments, and analyze datasets for model training and validation.
  • Develop signal-processing and machine-learning pipelines in Python.
  • Optimize deep learning algorithms for real-time deployment on Raspberry Pi and Edge AI devices.
  • Document results and assist with research publications and presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with research ethics and institutional policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Based on PRGS guidelines, a research officer cannot be a student.
  • Experience in AI, signal or speech processing, or embedded systems.
  • Proficient in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Previous research experience is an advantage.
