Electrical Manager

Job Overview:

The Electrical Manager is responsible for making sure all electrical works in the project are well-planned, safe, and meet required standards. Reporting to the M&E Manager, this role involves checking designs, coordinating with contractors and consultants, and ensuring everything runs smoothly on site. You'll work closely with different teams to solve technical issues, review drawings and BIM models, and support testing and commissioning activities. This position suits someone who enjoys teamwork, pays attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering quality and reliable electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and review and analyze electrical design by Contractor's  design consultant
• Review subcontractors' shop drawings and technical submissions AND the coordinated BIM model
• Prepare / specify the electrical requirements for subcontractors
• Verification of all the electrical side of the mechanical  equipment which consists of 160 AHUs, 490 fan coil units, 500 fans, and all the powered medical equipment
• Oversee the QAQC of the installations on site
• Coordinate all electrical, low voltage and ICT systems and medical equipment including the design, engineering, service route, supply route, interfaces and installation detail.
• Coordinate all Electrical services with architectural, civil and structure, medical equipment planner, interior design on plan and drawings.
• Oversee coordination with BIM consultant to identify and provide solution to clash analysis together with contractors, vendors and designers.
• Review design and construction documents to ensure they meet project specifications, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and ensure documents are submitted and reply timely between contractor, consultant and client.
• Coordinate with the project team, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure updated information are relayed efficiently and project objectives are met.
• Coordinate with authorities, keep track of status and submission of documents & drawings using Autodesk platform.
• Ensure accurate project documentation including preparation of request for information, site memos, updated drawings, method statement, material submission, testing and commissioning plans.
• Familiarize and well versed with project plans, QAQC, work progress, updates, schedules and targets.
• Ensure that all project-related communications are clear, concise, and timely.
• Providing technical advice and support to the project team and clients, and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
• Prepare progress reports and communicate project updates to the M & E Manager and clients.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes and regulations.
• Participate in project meetings, audits, interactions and discussions etc. as instructed.
• Participate in work inspection with clients & authorities.
• Participate in testing and commissioning, UAT, trainings, handing over process and documentation.
• Check subcontractors as built drawings and certify payments

• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by immediate superior from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification: Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or any relevant field.

Experience: At least 8-10 years of experience in coordinating the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in construction projects.

3.    Skills & competencies:

a)     In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.

b)     Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations.

c)     Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

d)     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

e)     Well verse both spoken and written in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

f)      Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

g)     Basic capability in use of AutoCAD and / or REVIT
