About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our Legal Department in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) sectors. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in
Intellectual Property (IP) Law and a strong background in ICT-related contracts
.

What You Will Do

  • Assist the Legal Manager in reviewing and drafting legal documents, including contracts, service agreements, licensing agreements, statements of work, MOUs, NDAs and other related agreements.
  • Provide professional legal support by anticipating and addressing potential issues in contract drafting, disputes and regulatory or data compliance matters to ensure smooth project execution and protect the company's interests.
  • Engage with government officials and clients through meetings and correspondence, demonstrating strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare concise summaries or briefings on relevant legislation, regulatory updates, case law in Malaysia and, where applicable, international jurisdictions.
  • Support contract negotiations and monitor contractual obligations to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, including regulators, consultants and law firms.
  • Maintain and organize legal files, databases and documentation in a structured and secure manner.
  • Translate legal and commercial documents (English to Bahasa Melayu or vice versa) as required.
  • Assist with dispute resolution, litigation support and case management as needed.
  • Stay updated on sector-specific legal and regulatory developments within the industry.

What You Should Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent. A Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or Bar qualification is an advantage.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in a legal or in-house counsel environment.
  • Strong command of both
    Bahasa Melayu and English
    (spoken and written).
  • Sound understanding
    of Intellectual Property Law and ICT-related contracts
    . Familiarity with sector-specific regulations is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Intellectual Property Law, including contract drafting, regulatory & data compliance and governance, familiarity with industry-specific legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with other sectors such as Artificial Intelligence is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of local and international contract structures.
