About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team at SICK Sdn Bhd in Ulu Tiram Johor. This role involves managing supplier quality performance, handling non-conformance issues, and working closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll be doing

  • Knowledge of machining and molding processes
  • Develop and implement quality control plans and programs for supplier materials
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues.
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions for defective materials
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers on quality-related matters.
  • Monitor and report on supplier quality performance and key performance indicators.
  • Participate in continual improvement programs and activities to support the achievement of department KPI
  • Initiate, review and track Supplier Corrective Actions Requests until actions have been implemented and verified as effective
  • Works with engineering to assess and address material quality issues
  • Provide technical support to Production and Manufacturing Engineering in the event of a supplier quality problem occurring on a component
  • Providing technical support to the receiving inspection function
  • Assist supplier with inspection before ex-works, as required to achieve ship to stock program
  • Manage FAI (First Article Inspection) Process
  • Good problem-solving skills with thorough understanding of 8D report process, 5 Why, SPC
  • Contributes to and participates in Material Review Board

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Molding or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality assurance or a related role
  • Familiar with GD&T & FMEA
  • Able to interpret technical drawings
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality control tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related quality standards.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
