The Application Engineer (Optics) provides technical application support and engineering expertise for optical and opto-mechanical products.

This role bridges customers, suppliers, and internal teams, helping to define and deliver the right optical solutions for system-level applications.

The ideal candidate possesses solid knowledge of optical principles, product integration, and hands-on experience with optical assemblies.

You will work closely with product management, sales, and assembly teams to ensure optimal solutions, customer satisfaction, and successful project outcomes.

JOB DUTIES

  • Provide technical application support for optical and mechanical components at both product and system levels.
  • Work directly with customers to understand optical design requirements, performance specifications, and integration needs.
  • Recommend suitable optical components, assemblies, or solutions to meet functional and cost objectives.
  • Assist the sales team in preparing technical proposals, presentations, and quotations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on feasibility analysis, design customization, and product optimization.
  • Support assembly and testing activities by providing technical input and reviewing engineering documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and principals to obtain product data, clarify specifications, and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct product training and application seminars for customers and internal staff.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) and product evaluation for optical technologies.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of customer feedback, application notes, and technical reports.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in optical engineering, application engineering, or technical support for optical components or assemblies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of optical systems, including lenses, objectives, mirrors and filters.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in optical theory, geometrical optics, imaging systems, and optical tolerancing.
  • Proficiency in Zemax (OpticStudio) for modeling, analysis, and system optimization is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with other tools such as Code V, LightTools, or TracePro will be an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or AutoCAD) for mechanical design review
