R&D Executive

Job Summary:

As a R&D Chemist, you will assist in developing and optimizing innovative baby care, personal care, and skincare products. Working under the supervision of R&D Manager, you will assist in formulation work, raw material sourcing and evaluation, formulation testing and documentation. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about cosmetic science and eager to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Formulation Development & Innovation

• Assist in developing and refining product formulations that align with market trends and customer needs.
• Support in testing of new raw materials to improve product performance and innovation.
• Ensure that formulations meet basic quality and safety standards as directed by superior.

2.     Testing & Quality Assurance

• Perform stability, packaging compatibility testing following standard protocols.
• Participate in product safety, validation and claim substantiation studies in collaboration with internal and external parties.

3.     Production & Scale Up

• Collaborate closely with production and QA team to ensure formulations are smooth transitions from lab-scale to factory-scale production.
• Refine processes to minimize bottlenecks and improve batch consistency.

4.     Raw Material Innovation & Optimization

• Assist in sourcing innovative raw materials, building strong relationships with suppliers to stay ahead of industry trends.
• Optimize raw material selection for balanced cost, performance, and sustainability, ensuring each formulation meets high-quality standards.

5.     Regulatory Compliance & Market Claims

• Ensure formulations comply with regulatory standards and support desired market claims for local and international markets. (e.g., moisturizing, soothing).
• Work with regulatory teams to document and meet labeling requirements for local and international markets.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and consumer trends, adjusting formulations as necessary to maintain alignment.

6.     Project Management

• Manage multiple product development projects from concept through commercialization, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Set clear project milestones and monitor progress, proactively addressing any potential issues to maintain momentum and meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and ensuring alignment on goals, priorities, and deliverables.

7.     Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with production, procurement, quality control and product teams to support new product launches and improvements.
• Provide technical support for product launches and ongoing lifecycle management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry or a related field.
• Industry Experience: 1-2 years of formulation development, ideally within baby care, personal care, or skincare.
• Technical Expertise: Basic understating of formulation principles, raw material properties, and mass production process
• Project & Time Management: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple projects in parallel.
• Adaptability: Capable of performing under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Attention to Detail: Strong documentation, organization, and analytical skills.
• Communication: Clear reporting and teamwork skills for cross-department collaboration.
• Mindset: Proactive learner with curiosity for innovation and strong problem-solving initiative.
• Willing to be based in Shanghai, China for 6 months on-job training.
• Fluent in Chinese (reading and writing) is a main requirement. (IS A MUST)
