Assistant Architect

Responsibilities

  • To prepare 2D and 3D drawings, schedules, details and documentation across Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Tender and Construction phases
  • To coordinate, develop and check architectural and other consultants' drawings
  • To liaise with relevant local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and by-laws
  • To study options and alternatives for architectural design solutions - by hand and on AutoCAD/Vectorworks
  • To assist with managing building/project contract e.g. preparing minutes of meetings, Architect's Instructions, interim certificates, stage certifications etc
  • To provide general assistance in the office

Requirements

  • LAM Part I
  • Bachelor of Architecture/Arts or Science in Architecture or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in an architectural practice
  • Committed to a career in architecture, with clear professional goals
  • Enthusiastic, conscientious with a strong design awareness
  • Reliable, helpful, able to work independently, in a team and under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues
  • Recognises potential issues before they become a problem, communicates promptly with senior colleagues
  • Responsible, accountable for own actions
  • Effective workload management, organised and tidy, meets agreed deadlines
  • Aware in principle of the Architect's responsibilities under the Architects Act and Code of Conduct
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software and Sketch Up. Vectorworks and Mac OS (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) experiences will be considered favourably
