Job Overview

The Assistant Outlet Chef supports the Outlet Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth preparation, quality control, and compliance with hygiene standards. This role acts as second-in-command, maintaining workflow efficiency and consistency when the Outlet Chef is unavailable.

Job Description

  • Assist in managing daily kitchen activities and supervising kitchen staff.
  • Prepare and cook dishes according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Support the Outlet Chef in food quality control and kitchen coordination.
  • Ensure food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Assist in inventory management, stock rotation, and ordering processes.
  • Monitor portion control and assist in minimizing wastage.
  • Report maintenance issues or operational challenges to the Outlet Chef promptly.
  • Participate in staff training and new menu trials.
  • Support in halal and food safety documentation when required.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar role or as a Demi Chef/Commis in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Familiar with Malay cuisine, especially nasi lemak and related side dishes.
  • Certification in Food Handling and Typhoid required.
  • Able to work on shift, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Team player with strong work ethics and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions accurately.
