Role Purpose

The Engineering Technical Personnel supports engineering, production, and quality functions to ensure smooth operation of automotive parts manufacturing processes. This role handles technical documentation, process troubleshooting, tooling support, machine setup assistance, and continuous improvement activities to achieve stable, efficient, and high-quality production output.


Key Responsibilities

1. Technical & Process Support

  • Assist in setting up machines, tooling, dies, punches, and production parameters for manufacturing parts.
  • Support engineers in performing trial runs, process validation, capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and initial sample testing.
  • Troubleshoot process or tooling issues and propose corrective adjustments to minimize downtime.

2. Tooling & Equipment Management

  • Coordinate with Tool Room on tooling availability, wear conditions, regrinding, and replacement schedules.
  • Assist in updating tooling drawings, specifications, and machine settings records.
  • Conduct technical checks on equipment and ensure proper setup for automotive part requirements.

3. Engineering Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and maintain technical documents such as SOPs, Work Instructions, Control Plans, and Process Sheets.
  • Ensure engineering files, drawings, and revision control are accurate and updated.
  • Assist in PPAP preparation, sample submissions, and documentation required for IATF 16949 compliance.

4. Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Support Quality and Production teams in analyzing defects and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Participate in corrective action plans (5 Why, Ishikawa, DMAIC) and follow-up implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, reduce scrap, enhance process stability, and optimize tooling life.

5. Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with R&D, Tool Room, Production, Maintenance, and QA to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in new product development activities and customer-specific technical requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to operators and junior staff when required.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Production process stability and reduction of process downtime.
  • Scrap rate, rejection rate, and defect reduction.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of engineering documentation.
  • Tooling performance (tool life, usage control, failure rate).
  • Successful execution of improvement projects.
  • Compliance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.

Requirements / Competencies

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or precision metal forming industry.
  • Strong understanding of cold heading, threading, heat treatment, and secondary processes (advantageous).
  • Ability to read technical drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
  • Familiar with automotive quality tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in English; working knowledge of Mandarin is an advantage for communication with certain suppliers and technical partners.
