Responsibilities:

The Role:

The Global Trade Compliance Manager will play a key role in establishing and maintaining a robust trade compliance program to ensure full adherence to all import and export regulations in Malaysia.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing, updating, and enforcing import and export control compliance policies and procedures, covering areas such as international travel, visitor management, deemed exports, procurement, shipping, contract negotiations, and proposal reviews. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day compliance responsibilities of the company in Malaysia.
  • Oversee international shipments to guarantee compliance with Malaysian import and export regulations.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of product, software, and technology attributes to determine accurate import and export classifications in Malaysia. This will necessitate close collaboration with AMD's engineering and procurement teams to ascertain specific requirements for compliance with Malaysian laws.
  • Provide guidance on export licensing decisions and facilitate the submission of necessary export licenses to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI).
  • Act as the primary contact point in Malaysia for guidance, resources, training, and coordination related to import and export compliance.
  • Collaborate with the broader AMD Global Trade Compliance team to align Malaysia's trade regulations with those of the US and other countries, while establishing internal processes to enhance operational efficiency in Malaysia.
  • Create and deliver tailored training resources, including manuals, brochures, handouts, and web-based training materials.
  • Stay abreast of changes in Malaysian import and export laws and regulations, and develop actionable plans based on these updates.

Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in import and export compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably with a background in science or engineering.
  • Profound expertise in US Export Regulations (EAR) and Export Licensing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and effectively manage teams to achieve project milestones within set timelines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and effective dissemination of trade compliance information to various audiences, including those with limited technical knowledge.
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to make informed decisions based on regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with SAP and GTS is highly desirable.
