The Head of Market Access & Key Accounts has a crucial role in shaping market access strategies and nurturing key account relationships within the pharmaceutical industry, such as pharmacy, private hospital, and public sector. This role involves crafting and implementing strategies to enhance product access, reimbursement, and adoption in target markets. To excel in this role, strong leadership, extensive healthcare system knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex payer landscapes are essential.

This role will be responsible for:

Market Access Strategies

  • Supervising the development and dissemination of health economic data, real-world evidence, and outcomes research to bolster product value and reimbursement decisions.
  • Creating comprehensive market access strategies that align with organizational objectives and product goals.
  • Analyzing market trends, payer behaviors, and regulatory mandates to shape strategy formulation.
  • Collaborating across departments internally, including commercial, medical affairs, government affairs, and regulatory teams to ensure harmonization of market access initiatives.
    Negotiating advantageous formulary positions, pricing, and reimbursement terms to optimize product access and market presence.

Key Account Relationships

  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with key payer entities, such as private insurers, government payers, pharmacy benefit managers, and reimbursement agencies.
  • Identifying and prioritizing key accounts, including payers, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), IDNs (Integrated Delivery Networks), and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with key decision-makers in target accounts.
  • Ensuring the turnover of GSK portfolio with specific accounts/channels.
  • Overseeing the implementation of Commercial Trade strategy (trade offers and KA programs).

Pricing & Reimbursement Strategy

  • Developing pricing strategies that consider product value proposition along with market dynamics and competitive landscape.
  • Conducting pricing assessments and evaluating the impact of pricing decisions on market access and profitability.
  • Leading reimbursement submissions and negotiations with payers to secure favorable coverage and reimbursement for products.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Engaging with local and international stakeholders, including sales, marketing, medical affairs, and regulatory teams to integrate market access strategies into overarching commercial plans.
  • Providing training and assistance to sales teams on payer landscape, reimbursement procedures, and market access strategies.
  • Representing the market access function in cross-functional endeavors to ensure alignment with broader business goals.

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical market access, payer relations, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and executing market access strategies that boost product uptake and revenue growth.
  • Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Profound understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems, payer dynamics, and regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and the pharmaceutical product lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, medical, life sciences, pharmacy, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH) is preferred.
