Job Requirement

  • 5 – 6 years of working experience as a Manager.
  • Manager specialized in Public Relations/Communications or equivalent.
  • Agency experience highly preferred (experience with lifestyle, entertainment, consumer, FMCG, tech and corporate accounts).
  • Experience handling a team, managing, guiding & supervising juniors.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Good teamwork, with the ability to work independently as well.
  • Immediate availability would be preferred (or short notice).
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English & Bahasa Malaysia is necessary/expected.
  • Ability to speak and write Mandarin would be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities

  • Daily point of contact with key media contacts
  • Developing industry, sector and product focused PR campaigns
  • Managing the needs of the client and their accounts
  • Contributing to daily meetings, and liaising and updating clients on PR activities
  • Keeping abreast of current PR trends and tools
  • Building client relationships and maintaining a network of media contacts including journalists and industry spokespeople
  • Spearheading both traditional PR and social media projects
  • Developing news angles, stories and pitches to further the client's profile, products and services.
  • Fulfilling the client's key performance indicators and growing accounts
  • Being involved in pitching for new business and developing PR proposals
  • Managing a high level of client interaction
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of staff
  • Develop and execute strategic communications programs that could include media relations, influencer marketing, community relations, social media, special events, etc. for clients
  • Responsible for pitch strategy development, media outreach, material development, client correspondence, interview briefing documents, and other PR related tasks.
  • Serve as primary client contact on select accounts, manage junior staff on account activity, review/edit written materials, and ensure deliverables are met within designated timeline.
  • Plan and execute media-specific events including media dinners and press conferences. Organize for media to attend events and provide media with on-site assistance.
  • Maintain a strategic view of clients' business, encompassing business goals, competitive issues, along with the breadth of ever-changing communication tools and techniques to tell your clients' stories and achieve their goals.
  • Implement influencer marketing campaigns, as appropriate.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, national and trade print, broadcast, and online media.
  • Assist with client marketing initiatives including: off-site events, collateral development, social media, and branding.
  • Fosters agency culture and is responsible for contributing to direct reports' annual and quarterly performance reviews, professional development plans and growth opportunities.
  • Develops and tracks budgets including monitoring account team hours, out of pocket costs, etc. for multiple accounts.

  • Experience of directing business to business (B2B) or business to consumer (B2C) PR accounts
  • Agency experience is highly preferred
  • Evidence of copywriting, marketing and report writing, social media, event management and client liaison skills
  • Strong communication with excellent presentation and data analysis capabilities
  • Aptitude to build a network of influencers and press commentators
  • Industry knowledge and contacts is beneficial

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline including marketing, communications or business is desirable but not essential. Experience may outweigh professional qualifications if you have proven track records in a similar position.

Hours

Generally, office hours are 9:00am - 6:00pm. You may occasionally be required to work irregular hours, overtime (or on weekends) in the days leading up to a new business pitch or event; to meet client deadlines, manage a client crisis or press launch. Attending networking events and social occasions with clients will also add to your working hours.
