Senior Manager

Job purpose:

The role is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of client account onboarding and account maintenance activities in accordance with Bursa Malaysia Depository (Bursa Depository / CDS) requirements and internal regulatory standards. This incumbent ensures the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all account-related processes including individual, corporate, institutional, foreign, and nominee accounts — while providing strong leadership to the team to uphold high service standards for clients, dealers, remisiers and internal stakeholders.

Job responsibilities:

1. Account Opening & Maintenance

• Oversee end-to-end client account opening processes, including individual, corporate, institutional, foreign, and nominee account types.
• Ensure complete and compliant documentation in accordance with the CDS Procedures Manual, Bursa Rules, SC guidelines, and internal policies.
• Review and approve account opening applications, updates, closures, and amendments.
• Coordinate with compliance and risk management teams to resolve KYC, AML/CFT, FATCA/CRS, and due diligence matters.

2. CDS-Related Operations

• Familiar with Bursa POs' directive.
• Supervise and manage CDS account creation, maintenance, and submission tasks.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of share transfers, transfer of title, rectifications, and pledging/unpledging instructions.
• Maintain up-to-date operational knowledge of CDS systems, regulatory changes, and process updates from Bursa Depository.
• Act as subject matter expert (SME) on CDS rules, procedures, and system usage.

3. Operational Controls & Compliance

• Implement strong operational controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
• Ensure all account management activities adhere to Bursa Depository rules, Securities Commission Malaysia guidelines, AML/CFT requirements, and company policies.
• Support audit exercises (internal/external) and regulatory inspections, including preparing documents and responding to audit queries.

4. Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with Bursa Depository, banks, custodians, fund managers, corporate clients, and regulators on account-related matters.
• Support dealers, remisiers, and front-office staff by providing guidance on account opening requirements and CDS processes.
• Resolve escalated client issues professionally and promptly.

5. Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Lead, mentor, and develop the account management team to enhance skillsets, productivity, and service quality.
• Streamline and enhance workflows through process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices.
• Ensure proper documentation, SOP updates, and internal training for staff on CDS and account management procedures.

Job requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6–10 years of experience in stockbroking operations, CDS account management, or related fields, including at least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience (preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of the CDS Procedures Manual, Bursa Depository operations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on experience in handling corporate, institutional, nominee, and foreign account opening processes.
• Proficient in processing CDS submissions, shares transfer, and transfer of title.
• Familiarity with front-office/back-office systems used by stockbroking firms.
