INSPECTOR OF WORK

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Inspector of Work (M&E) is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical and electrical works at the project site are carried out in full compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • This role involves daily site supervision, inspection, documentation, and coordination with consultants, contractors, and the project team to ensure quality workmanship, adherence to safety and environmental requirements, and compliance with local authority regulations.
  • The IOW acts as the site representative for the M&E discipline, supporting the M&E Engineer and M&E Manager in ensuring timely progress and technical compliance of all site works.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct daily site inspections on all M&E works to ensure compliance with design drawings, specifications, and approved construction methods.
  • Monitor M&E contractors' work quality, workmanship, and safety performance on-site.
  • Verify that all materials, equipment, and installations conform to approved samples and technical submissions.
  • Record site progress, non-conformities, and corrective actions taken by the contractor.
  • Witness testing and commissioning of M&E systems and ensure proper documentation of results.
  • Report any deviations or defects to the M&E Engineer and follow up on rectification works.

Other Duties

  • Monitor site safety compliance and report unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
  • Assist the project team with verification of completed works for payment certification.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the M&E Engineer or M&E Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of working experience in site inspection, supervision, or construction of M&E works.
  • Thorough understanding of M&E systems, materials, installation methods, and relevant industry standards.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, authority regulations, and statutory inspection procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and ensure corrective action.
  • Good communication and reporting skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and basic project documentation tools.
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious in all site activities.

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12-16 months

Pay: RM3, RM5,000.00 per month
