Job description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall planning, implementation, and successful completion of the railway infrastructure project within the specified timeline and budget.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved in accordance with quality standards and contractual requirements.
  • Utilize extensive project management knowledge and experience to effectively manage large-scale projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate expertise in railway project management, including familiarity with railway systems, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of contracts and contract administration, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and managing contract-related risks effectively.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with key stakeholders, including government agencies, project partners, and local communities, to ensure transparency and alignment of project objectives.
  • Manage project risks and issues proactively, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
  • Monitor project progress and performance metrics, providing regular updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary project team, fostering a collaborative and high performance work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in project management processes and practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in the railway sector.
  • Extensive experience in railway project management, including planning, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management and administration, with the ability to interpret and negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian regulatory requirements and standards related to railway infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent are desirable.
