About the role

Everrise Departmental Store Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Learning & Development Executive to join our dynamic HR team in Kuching, Sarawak. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's growth by ensuring staff are equipped with the right competencies to provide excellent customer service, operational efficiency and consistent brand standards.

What you'll be doing

  • Assess training needs through job analysis, performance reviews, and discussions with internal departments.
  • Design and customize training modules based on the needs of the organization. (i.e. customer service, product knowledge, sales, retail operations, safety, SOPs)
  • Develop training plans and support budgeting for training programs.
  • Conduct classroom, on-the-job coaching, and digital training for retail staff and supervisors.
  • Create and design experiential onboarding programs for new hires.
  • Conduct effective induction for all new hires and apprentices to ensure smooth integration into the company.
  • Administer cashier tests and monitor new cashiers' performance, including cashier's shortage reports.
  • Develop and review pre-employment assessments to validate candidate skills.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders such as retail Operations and Store Managers on training priorities.
  • Manage training delivery and coordinate external training providers and staff travel arrangements related to training if necessary.
  • Administer E-TRIS login and liaise with government agencies (i.e. HRD Corp) on training incentives and claims.
  • Maintain and update training records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure staff meet mandatory regulatory training requirements (e.g., food handling, typhoid).
  • Track training attendance, completion, and effectiveness.
  • Prepare monthly L&D reports for management.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in learning trends, changes in learning theory.

What we're looking for

  • At least a Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, Training & Development or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of Human Resources experience in learning & development or HR generalist.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Business awareness and commercially focused.
  • Good understanding of retail operations, customer service, and store workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple training schedules.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation & presentation skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
