Job Description:

  • Work towards achieving individual and department's goals, in accordance with the business strategy that has been approved and outlined by the HOD. Responsibilities would include pricing, underwriting in accordance with MUG.

  • Acquire knowledge and equipped oneself with necessary skills to complete the tasks and achieve the goals assigned.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Portfolio Management

  • Monitor, track and analyse the effectiveness of assigned line of business in meeting Key Performance Indicators assigned by HOD.
  • Support gathering and creation of data/reports with the aim to improve data management and automation which can be used to achieve desired goals and objective of department.

Underwriting

  • Working with senior underwriters to underwrite risks through careful risk selection, including determining the appropriate pricing, terms and conditions for respective lines of business.
  • Adhere to Malaysian Re Underwriting Guidelines (MUG) in all aspects of underwriting.
  • Working with Treaty and Technical Modelling Unit in monitoring aggregate accumulation for respective lines of business in the approved territorial scope of the department.
  • Support in successful claims management of risks under assigned line of business, specifically assessment of large losses within the assigned line of business.

Business procurement

  • Working with senior underwriter in planning and execution of business development visits and communications with clients.
  • Working with senior underwriter in formulation of training needs of clients where necessary.
  • Ensure all processes that relates to our business partners/clients is maintained and complied with according to Standard Operating Procedures approved by HOD, including procedures and guidelines with regards to Anti Money Laundering Act.

Operational and Services

  • Ensure all processes that relates to the underwriting process is maintained according to Standard Operating Procedures approved by HOD.
  • Working with Technical Accounts in respect of statement of accounts where necessary
  • Analyse and manages data from various reports and data sources in respect to their responsible lines of business.
  • Collaborate with other teams where necessary to achieve desired targets of company.

Qualification and Experience

  • Malaysian citizen
  • Degree qualification – preferably in finance, accounting, insurance, engineering, actuarial science, statistician
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience i within the Facultative reinsurance/ insurance industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Proficient in working with underwriting tools and systems, as well as data analysis software. If you are an avid Microsoft Excel user, this will definitely be an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data analysis and policy evaluation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
