We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Pre-Sales Engineer to join our team, focusing on Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems. This pivotal role bridges the gap between sales and technical delivery, ensuring that our proposed solutions not only meet client requirements but are also technically robust and feasible.
Job Description
As the primary technical resource for the sales team, the Pre-Sales Engineer is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. The individual in this role will play a crucial part in ensuring client satisfaction and the successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Technical Consultation: Collaborate closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements for ELV systems, such as access control, public address, fire alarm, and intrusion detection, as well as CCTV and surveillance solutions.
· Solution Design & Presentation: Develop and present tailored, high-quality technical proposals, system architectures, and schematics that directly address customer pain points and adhere to technical specifications.
· Proof of Concept (POC) & Demos: Plan, coordinate, and execute product demonstrations, pilots, and proof-of-concept projects to clearly showcase the value and functionality of proposed ELV and CCTV solutions.
· Bid Management: Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BoQ), technical specifications, compliance matrices, and cost estimates for inclusion in tender and quotation submissions.
· Collaboration: Serve as the technical liaison between the sales team, engineering, and project delivery teams to ensure a seamless transition from pre-sales activities to project execution.
· Market Intelligence: Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, products, and the competitive landscape within the ELV and video surveillance industries.
· Training: Conduct technical training sessions for the sales team on new products and solutions to ensure up-to-date knowledge and effective sales strategies.
Skills and Requirements:
a) Core Technical Expertise
· Deep Knowledge of ELV Systems: Demonstrated experience and a solid understanding of the design, integration, and operation of various ELV systems, including:
Access Control Systems (ACS): Familiarity with readers, controllers, software, and integration protocols.
Fire Alarm Systems (FAS): Experience with both conventional and addressable systems, including detectors, panels, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., NFPA, EN).
Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS): Knowledge of sensors, panels, and monitoring solutions.
Public Address (PA) & Voice Evacuation Systems: Understanding of system design and deployment.
Building Management Systems (BMS) Integration: Experience with BMS integration is an added advantage.
b) Comprehensive CCTV & Video Surveillance Knowledge: Expertise in both IP and Analog surveillance technologies, including:
Camera Technology: Deep understanding of various camera types (dome, bullet, PTZ, thermal), different resolutions, lens types, and video compression standards (such as H.264, H.265).
Video Management Systems (VMS): Hands-on experience with leading VMS platforms, such as Milestone, Genetec, or proprietary systems.
Storage Solutions: Knowledge of NVRs, DVRs, and network-attached storage (NAS/SAN) for video archiving needs.
Video Analytics: Familiarity with AI-driven analytics, including facial recognition and license plate recognition technologies.
c) Networking Fundamentals: Strong grasp of TCP/IP networking, subnetting, VLANs, bandwidth calculations, and network security as they pertain to IP-based ELV and CCTV installations.
Professional and Soft Skills
· Excellent Communication & Presentation Skills: Ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, both in writing and verbally.
· Consultative Sales Approach: Skilled in listening to customers, probing for underlying needs, and translating those needs into viable technical solutions.
· Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities to troubleshoot technical issues and design optimal solutions under a variety of constraints.
· Software Proficiency: Proficient in design tools for creating system layouts and schematics, along with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and presentations.
· Attention to Detail: Meticulous in preparing technical documents, BoQs, and ensuring compliance checks.
· Project Management Awareness: Basic understanding of the project lifecycle, delivery methodologies, and deployment risks.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
· Experience: Minimum of 1-5 years' experience in a pre-sales, technical sales, or systems engineering role focused on ELV and/or Security Systems.
· Certification: Relevant vendor certifications, such as those from major VMS, access control, or fire alarm manufacturers, are highly desirable.
