Director, Sales

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Sales teams' operations and strategies. By researching market trends and conducting competitor analysis, you will develop and implement sales strategies.
Responsibilities
General
o Develops and formulates sales strategies
o Sets objectives for the Sales Department
o Surveys rate structures of competing markets and competitors and proposes new rate structures to Director, Commercial for discussions whenever deemed necessary.
o Prepares and forwards periodical surveys about competition and competing markets.
o Maintains and develop effective employee relations where it relates to Sales.
Sales activities
o Promotes the image of the hotel, the hotel group and its individual properties.
o Creates new contracts, negotiates contracts and generate sales.
o Monitors activities and performance of all assigned team members.
o Co-ordinates sales and promotes business for the hotel locally.
o Investigates potential markets by studying various reference and industry publications for sales leads.
o Invites and entertains selected operations, agents and representatives.
Marketing Activities
o Participates as an active member of the community through association memberships and other trade organizations.
o Reviews regularly the internal promotion pieces for visual effect.
o Investigates potential markets by:
o Analyzing guest history and registration card files.
o Studying guest questionnaires.
o Reviewing government statistics on visitor arrivals.
o Analyzing competition's sales and promotion efforts
o Studying various reference and industry publications for sales leads.
o Recommends to the Director, Commercial the kind of promotion and advertising which will be most productive for the hotel by analyzing the market effectiveness of past promotion and advertising campaigns.
Administration
o Conducts such functions as performance appraisal, coaching and counseling and dismissal if necessary to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity.
o Develops and implements formal training plans for the sales team.
o Ensures efficient and reliable administrative support of the sales team.
o Supervises and updates promotional material, brochures, slides, tariff sheets, sales kits, give-away etc. in co-ordination with Director, Commercial.
o Monitors brochures of contracted operators, agents and representatives to ensure correct presentation of features and promotions of the hotel.
o Checks and forwards updates as needed on status of new contracts (contracts printed, send-out, returned, distributed, entered of the system, filed).
o Ensures proper internal distribution of contracts and lists of agents, operators and others.
o Supervises handling of incoming and outgoing correspondences and messages as related to Sales & Marketing
o Ensures adherence to the Head Office credit lists and its distribution
Briefing / Meeting / Reports
o Attends and assist Director, Commercial to conduct the weekly sales meeting.
o Attends the monthly sales meeting together with the Head Operation Leaders.
o Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years' of senior sales leadership experience
- 5+ years' of experience in sales
- Strong leadership skills
