BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (LOGISTICS)
Department: Business Development / Sales & Marketing
Reports To: Managing Director
Position Summary:
Responsible for company's business growth in developing new businesses i.e freight forwarding, warehousing, and project logistics. The role focuses on developing new business opportunities, expanding client base, and strengthening long-term partnerships to increase overall company revenue and market share.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across freight forwarding, trucking, warehousing, and project logistics segments.
- Build and maintain relationships with importers, exporters, manufacturers, EPCs, and project owners.
- Prepare and present customized proposals, quotations, and service solutions to clients.
- Lead or support tender preparation, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation with customers and vendors.
- Explore cross-selling opportunities among the company's logistics services (freight, transport, warehouse).
- Achieve assigned sales targets, gross profit, and new customer acquisition KPIs.
2. Strategic Planning & Market Expansion
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to develop strategic business plans.
- Work closely with management to identify new trade lanes, potential joint ventures, or niche markets.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on promotional campaigns and customer engagement initiatives.
3. Customer & Project Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for key accounts and major project clients.
- Coordinate with operations, forwarding, and transport teams to ensure service delivery aligns with customer requirements.
- Monitor project shipments and provide regular status updates to clients.
- Conduct post-project reviews to identify improvement areas.
4. Team Management
- Support management in setting realistic sales budgets and pipeline forecasts.
Requirements:
- Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years working experience in logistics or freight forwarding, with at least 2–3 years in a management team.
- Strong understanding of freight forwarding operations (sea/air), warehousing, and project logistics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to build relationships and close deals.
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with logistics systems
- Possess own transport and willing to travel locally or regionally.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Revenue & GP Achievement: Monthly and annual sales target (freight, warehouse, project cargo).
- New Account Acquisition: Minimum number of new customers secured per quarter.
- Customer Retention: Repeat business rate and customer satisfaction score.
- Pipeline Conversion Rate: Ratio of quotations issued vs. deals closed.
- Market Expansion Initiatives: New routes, sectors, or services developed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM7, RM10,000.00 per month
