Planning Engineer

Job Role:

• To prepare the realistic fabrication schedule in accordance with the engineering, material status and fabrication sequences.
• Coordinate with the interdepartmental to update the engineering and material status from time to time, to meet the fabrication schedule
• Attend the project meeting and highlight the critical path and the immediate action required by the respective department.
• To prepare the weekly fabrication progress report and highlight the issues/critical paths to the respective department if there is potential impact on the fabrication schedule.
• To prepare the manpower and equipment loading based on the project/fabrication schedule.
• Allocate the adequate manhour per activity based on the project manhour given. Clarify with project/budget department if there is insufficient/unreasonable manhour given for the fabrication.
• Conduct weekly progress and manhour budget meetings with the team to ensure that progress and manhour is followed by the fabrication team.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement ways to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
• Analyse production data, such as lead times, cycle times, and output rates, to create performance reports.
• To comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instruction (WI), safety and quality requirement at all times.
• To maintain clean, safe and organize working environment in accordance with Company safety protocols.
• To adhere all safety rules and procedures as set by the Company.
• To maintain the departmental documentation.
• To perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

• Qualification requirement: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Engineering, or equivalent field.
• Minimum 8 years of planning experience in the fabrication industry, preferably involving pressure vessels, heavy steel fabrication, or heavy industry environments.
• Experience supporting production, workshop operations, or project execution is an added advantage.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, supervise, and develop a planning team.
• Good communication skills, to communicate with cross departmental such as QA/QC, engineering, procurement, and project teams.
• Highly proficient in pressure vessel manufacturing processes, including: tanks, heat exchangers, reactors, columns, and related equipment, material receiving and verification, cutting, rolling, forming, welding, NDT, assembly, blasting/painting, and shipment stages.
• Capable of independently developing detailed and accurate construction and fabrication schedules based on pressure vessel manufacturing procedures and project specifications.
• Proficient in planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) is an added advantage.
• Man-hour and Productivity Planning. Able to independently break down and estimate man-hours for each fabrication process step with precision, taking into account: joint quantity, weld length and thickness, material type and complexity, process flow and sequencing, resource and shop capacity constraints
• Able to plan and coordinate personnel deployment and resource levelling, workshop and yard layout planning, machinery and equipment utilization, facility planning based on project scale and configuration
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Able to work under tight deadlines and rapidly changing priorities
• Familiarity with ASME, ISO, or industrial fabrication standards (advantage)

Remark:

• Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am-5.00pm, Saturday 8.00am-12.00pm

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM7, RM10,000.00 per month
