Position Purpose
The
Deputy General Manager – Internals
is responsible for leading and strengthening the company's
internal governance, infrastructure, and enabling functions
to support sustainable logistics operations. This role focuses on
procurement, IT, HR oversight, facilities management, safety, legal & compliance, strategic initiatives, and corporate reporting
.
The role acts as a
central integrator
across internal functions, ensuring policies, systems, controls, and resources are aligned with regulatory requirements, business strategy, and industry best practices within the Malaysian logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Establish and oversee company-wide procurement policies, governance, and approval frameworks.
- Manage strategic sourcing for logistics-related spend (fleet services, equipment, IT systems, facilities, safety gear, contractors, etc.).
- Lead vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and ethical standards.
2. Information Technology & Systems
- Provide strategic oversight of IT functions, including ERP, TMS, WMS, fleet management systems, and reporting platforms.
- Drive digitalisation, system integration, cybersecurity awareness, and data governance initiatives.
- Partner with internal users and external vendors to improve system reliability, automation, and data accuracy.
- Ensure IT systems support regulatory reporting, safety monitoring, and management decision-making.
3. Human Resources Oversight (Non-Transactional)
- Provide governance oversight to HR functions (excluding payroll and transactional HR).
- Support workforce planning, organisation structure design, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Ensure HR policies align with Malaysian labour laws, logistics industry requirements, and company values.
- Partner with HR to promote performance management, competency frameworks, and training effectiveness.
4. Facilities & Asset Management
- Oversee facilities management across warehouses, depots, offices, and yards.
- Ensure proper maintenance governance for buildings, utilities, infrastructure, and shared assets (excluding fleet operations).
- Drive space optimisation, facility safety standards, and capital improvement planning.
- Ensure compliance with local authority requirements (BOMBA, DOSH, local councils, etc.).
5. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Lead the company's safety governance framework across all logistics facilities and functions.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian SHE regulations (e.g. DOSH, OSHA, environmental requirements).
- Oversee safety audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety performance reporting.
- Promote a strong safety culture through leadership engagement, policies, and continuous improvement.
6. Legal, Risk & Compliance
- Act as the key internal owner for corporate compliance, regulatory adherence, and risk governance.
- Liaise with external legal counsel on contracts, disputes, regulatory matters, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure company policies align with Malaysian laws, transport and logistics regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain enterprise risk registers and ensure mitigation plans are implemented and monitored.
7. Strategic Initiatives & Corporate Projects
- Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives as assigned by the GM / Board (e.g. restructuring, system rollouts, governance enhancements).
- Translate corporate strategy into internal capability-building initiatives.
- Monitor execution progress, risks, and outcomes of strategic projects.
8. Management Reporting & Governance
- Oversee corporate reporting frameworks, dashboards, and management information systems.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and insightful reporting across safety, procurement, IT, HR, compliance, and facilities.
- Prepare papers, reports, and presentations for senior management, board meetings, and audits.
- Drive data consistency, standardisation, and transparency across internal functions.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum
5 –10 years of experience
, preferably within the
logistics, transport, warehousing, or supply chain industry in Malaysia
. - Proven experience managing or overseeing multiple
internal / corporate functions
. - Strong understanding of
Malaysian regulatory environment
, particularly in logistics, safety, labour, and compliance. - Experience working with ERP / logistics systems and governance frameworks is highly preferred.
