We are hiring a proactive and skilled Technical Support Engineer based in Malaysia to be the primary technical contact for our customers. This role is essential for ensuring the seamless operation, installation, and maintenance of our sophisticated analytical and testing equipment.

Due to the field service nature of this role, possession of a valid driving license and reliable personal transport is preferred.

Key Responsibilities (Updated)

  • Installation and Commissioning: Lead the on-site installation, configuration, and initial calibration of new instruments, focusing on equipment in Industrial/EV Tribology (friction/wear testing), Electrochemistry, Flow Chemistry Systems, and Material Testing.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and execute complex diagnostics and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and software components to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Technical Support & Training: Provide prompt and expert remote and on-site technical assistance, troubleshooting, and application consultation to customers. Provide technical training and guidance to customer laboratory personnel on instrument operation, maintenance, and basic application techniques.
  • Documentation: Maintain rigorous service records, calibration reports, and technical documentation for all field activities.
  • Customer Relationship Management & Business Development: Actively build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention. Partner with Sales and Applications teams for pre-sales technical expertise and liaise directly with international manufacturers for complex support escalations. Actively participate in the sales process (including instrument demonstrations and technical presentations) and generate sales leads and business development opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument & Control Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related technical field.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in servicing or repairing complex analytical, scientific, or laboratory instrumentation.

  • Prior Field Service experience is highly advantageous.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of analytical instruments and laboratory workflows.

  • Direct experience or strong interest in our core application areas, specifically:

  • Lubrication Testing (Tannas Co & King Refrigeration knowledge a plus), fuel and lubricant analysis, and materials science.

  • Electrochemistry (Potentiostats like Zahner/Admiral).
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and other international testing standards is preferred.
  • Proficient in reading technical schematics, diagnosing system failures, and using standard diagnostic tools.

  • Competency with instrument control software and basic lab IT/networking.

  • Communication: Ability to converse in Malay to communicate with Malay-speaking clients and stakeholders; To clearly articulate complex technical information.

  • Problem-Solving: Highly analytical, methodical, and resourceful under pressure.
  • Customer Focus: Dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service and building lasting professional relationships.
  • Mobility: Preferably possess a valid Malaysian Class D/DA Driving License and utilize own personal transport to travel to customer sites while carrying tools.
  • Independence: Capable of self-management, scheduling service calls, and frequent travel within Malaysia.
  • Willingness to travel within Malaysia and for occasional regional travel.
