Our client is seeking a Head of Industrial Relations to strategically manage the Industrial Relations function. This role involves overseeing disciplinary processes, Collective Agreements bargaining, and Union Management.

Ensuring compliance with employment laws and implementing best practices in Industrial Relations are paramount to safeguarding the organisation's interests. Additionally, the role involves preserving and maintaining a harmonious relationship between the organisation and its employees/unions. Furthermore, providing informed advice to line managers and senior management on disciplinary issues and relevant employment laws is essential to support effective decision-making processes.

What you'll do:
As a Head of Industrial Relations, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Industrial Relations function for our client. You will oversee disciplinary processes, Collective Agreements bargaining, Union Management while ensuring compliance with employment laws. Your expertise will be crucial in implementing best practices in Industrial Relations to safeguard the organisation's interests. You will also be responsible for maintaining a harmonious relationship between the organisation and its employees/unions. Providing informed advice to line managers and senior management on disciplinary issues and relevant employment laws will be an integral part of your role.

  • Manage Industrial Relations annual budget effectively by savings of 5% from allocated budget approved for programs and activities under staff and motivation budget.
  • Lead and monitor the development and implementation of new projects, initiatives, or work processes.
  • Manage and facilitate the employees enrolled in the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
  • Monitor execution of disciplinary action process including drafting of Charge Sheet, Domestic Inquiry proceeding, show cause letter preparation etc.
  • Oversee and monitor the preparation of paper for cases to be submitted to Group President / CEO and Disciplinary Committee (DC) and Chief People Officer (CPO) for deliberation on the type of punishment to be meted out to the offenders based on natural justice guided by the Court cases' decision, Employment Act, precedent cases etc.
  • Provide advice for all line managers on matters relating to employment laws, disciplinary and unions' issues.

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Head of Industrial Relations role will bring a wealth of experience in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law or any related discipline. With a minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience, preferably in the Union or banking industry, you will have honed your analytical thinking, leadership skills and decision-making abilities. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key in maintaining harmonious relationships within the organisation. Your strong written and presentation skills will enable you to operate effectively in a high-profile environment with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations/Human Resource/Law/Business Administration or other relevant major.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in Industrial Relations/ Human Resource/ Law or any related discipline.
  • Experience working in the Union or banking industry.
  • Experience in senior management or managerial job.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, leadership skills, decisive and good interpersonal & communication skills
  • Strong written and presentation skills will be essential to operate in a high-profile environment with a diverse range of stakeholders.
