About the Role:

As the pioneer HR member of our brand-new Malaysia business, the Head of Human Resources will lead the establishment and growth of our operations, including the set-up of our presence in the country with a major production facilitylocated in Johor Bahru. This strategic role involves overseeing a combined workforce of approximately 500 employees, both corporate and blue-collar, with the expectation that the site will expand from scratch to this significant size within the next 3-5 years. Semiconductor experience is highly valued and proficiency in English remains essential for effective communication.

Initially working as an individual contributor, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of HR activities (Operational & Strategic) for our Greenfield manufacturing site, conceptualizing and designing progressive HR frameworks, and implementing best-in-class HR practices for Malaysia across all facets of Workforce & SuccessionPlanning, Total Rewards, Employee & Labour Relations, Culture Development, Talent Management, and overall Policy Design.

You will be a strategic partner to the Global & Regional Leadership teams aligning HR strategies with business goals, driving organizational performance and growth, while also providing strategic insights on workforce planning, organizational development, managing succession planning and driving leadership development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in Malaysia
  • Establish and lead activities related to setting up the country/site, including defining tools, processes, and policies; develop solutions through organizational development and process-oriented perspectives
  • Oversee talent management and succession planning within the organization to ensure the sustainability of the talent pipelines
  • Ensure HR policies and programs are well administered and implemented effectively according to the established guidelines and budget
  • Design and deliver learning programs across all functions from mid to senior leadership level
  • Managing foreign workers/expatriates matters pertaining to work permit applications, quotas, foreign worker hiring (if required) and transportation and accommodation etc.
  • Lead company-wide initiatives such as salary reviews, stock renewals, workforce planning, and organizational changes

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related fields;advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous
  • Minimum 10-12 years of progressive experience in human resources management, with a focus on employee development, organizational growth, and talent management
  • Must have a proven track record in successfully managing large-scale projects, preferably in the Production/Manufacturing or Semiconductor industry
  • Well versed in Malaysia Employment Act and IR & ER related matters
  • Strong command of English for effective communication and collaboration in an international context; other local language capability will be an advantage
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to drive organizational growth and implement innovative solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and lead a dynamic team
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Nice-to-have: Demonstrating the ability to think in a matrixed environment and comfortable working in a "start-up" environment
