Job Overview:

The R&D and Business Development Executive is a strategic role aimed at enhancing ADFIM's positioning as a leading policy influencer and advisory body within the Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) ecosystem in Malaysia. The primary objective of this role is to advance ADFIM's mandate by spearheading research initiatives, publishing impactful papers, and driving business growth through strategic partnerships and member engagement. This role is essential in supporting ADFIM's vision to foster sustainable development, financial inclusion, and economic growth through active policy advocacy and thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research & Development (R&D)
  • Research Publications: Lead the development of research papers, policy briefs, and white papers based on ADFIM's events, advisory projects, and commissioned studies. Ensure that publications are of high quality and provide actionable insights for policy makers, member institutions, and the broader financial industry.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop, implement, and continuously refine SOPs for the R&D department to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality in all research activities. Establish guidelines for conducting surveys, data collection, and analysis.
  • Research Projects & Surveys: Design, plan, and execute surveys, industry studies, and research projects as needed to address key issues affecting DFIs and Entrepreneur Development Organizations (EDOs). Present findings in a comprehensive manner, including data visualizations and policy recommendations.
  • Representation: Act as ADFIM's representative at relevant industry events, forums, and meetings, sharing insights and findings from ADFIM's research work. Serve as a spokesperson for ADFIM's R&D initiatives, showcasing the organization's expertise and thought leadership.
2. Business Development
  • ESG Advisory Services: Oversee and manage ADFIM's ESG advisory services, aimed at supporting member institutions in adopting sustainable practices and aligning with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. Drive revenue through strategic consultancy projects and customized advisory offerings.
  • Membership Growth: Lead efforts to acquire new member institutions, focusing on expanding ADFIM's network of DFIs and EDOs. Develop value propositions and engagement strategies that highlight ADFIM's role in policy advocacy, research, and member support.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, government agencies, industry leaders, and other financial institutions. Actively engage with stakeholders to position ADFIM as a credible policy influencer and thought leader in the financial sector.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and pursue strategic partnerships and collaborations that align with ADFIM's mission and enhance its influence. Work closely with the Secretary General and Council Members to secure opportunities that drive business growth and advance ADFIM's strategic goals.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Number of research papers, policy briefs, and publications produced annually.
  • Successful implementation of R&D SOPs and quality control measures.
  • Revenue generated from ESG advisory services and other business development activities.
  • Growth in ADFIM membership and increased member engagement.
  • Establishment of strategic partnerships and successful stakeholder engagements.
  • Representation of ADFIM in at least 10 industry events annually.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is an added advantage.
  • Fresh graduates with Masters degree are accepted or at least 2-3 years of experience in research, business development, or a related role within the financial sector, preferably with exposure to DFIs, EDOs, or policy advocacy.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research, data analysis, and publishing industry reports or policy papers.
  • Strong understanding of ESG standards, sustainable finance, and the policy landscape related to development finance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills, with the ability to engage high-level stakeholders effectively.
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with a strong ability to manage projects independently and deliver results within tight deadlines.
  • Must be an Extrovert.
