Ensuring the following functions are properly done by the staff and personnel of the department; Application screening and background checks with previous employers, interviews, prior to hiring of new officers and crew. Verifying that the qualifications and experience of new recruits are genuine and they are suitable for recruitment and meeting charterer’s requirements. Proper briefing of sea going personnel prior to sign-on. Carry out vessel familiarizations of new personnel prior joining ship and personnel transferred to new assignments (sea staff). Planning for familiarization program, vessel joining formalities and process documents. Ensuring the control/monitoring of documents and certificates of embarking seagoing personnel. Carry out day to day vessel operation monitoring and ensuring compliance of IMO, Flag State and charterers requirements. Maintaining Crew lists of current manning in respect of each vessel. Ensuring no overstay on board of any sea-going personnel. Maintaining personal, medical & training records and certification details of all personnel. Keeping all personal files up-to-date. Identify training needs for seafarers Monitoring validity of Safe Manning and Ship Sanitation certificates, as well as MLC2006 documents, Monitoring validity of Seafarer Employment of Agreement (SEA) Maintaining a computerized database which contains key personal data and assignment history of all personnel, including involvement in safety incidences, disciplinary issues, performance etc.
