In this role, you will be part of a high-performing team supporting Japan, working closely with the Accounts Payable Manager to drive business growth and excellence.

The Opportunity

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, verify, and process Accounts Payable documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
  • Validate and settle Purchase Order invoices, non-PO invoices, prepayments, and down payments, while maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of supplier open items, due invoices, credit notes, debit balances, and other account-related activities before executing payments.
  • Investigate and reverse unsuccessful payment transactions, resolving issues promptly to maintain business continuity.
  • Participate in month-end closing activities, including purchasing accruals according to a predefined schedule, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Prepare regular reporting, such as monthly KPI reports and operational reports, tailored to affiliate requirements.
  • Reconcile AP balance sheet accounts and clear aged items, ensuring accurate financial records and minimizing risk.
  • Perform supplier statement of account reconciliation and follow up on open items for closure, maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers.
  • Handle internal and external queries, responding promptly within agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate with auditors during compliance audits, providing necessary information and support.
  • Troubleshoot AP issues and contribute to project implementation, driving process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Engage in system integration and testing, ensuring seamless operation and optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives, enhancing operational effectiveness and reducing costs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, conducting internal process training for new joiners.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier and intercompany invoices within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Guarantee on-time payment of supplier invoices according to agreed payment terms.
  • Ensure timely payment of intercompany invoices according to the intercompany payment schedule.
  • Maintain up-to-date work documentation and processes meeting Internal Control Financial Reporting (ICFR), group policies, guidelines, and local statutory and legal requirements within agreed service timelines.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of AP month-end closing activities.
  • Address internal and external queries promptly within SLAs.

Who You Are

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • A degree in Finance & Accounting, Commerce, or equivalent. Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, MIA) are an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English & Japanese.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the specific country language for business communications.
  • At least 4 years of experience in transactional accounting teams within a performance-driven environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP or other ERP/Accounting systems.
  • Experience working in a shared service center across a global or large organization is advantageous.

  • Support the Assistant Manager in coaching Analysts and Associates.
  • Conduct sample reviews of entries posted by the team to ensure accuracy.
  • Backup responsibilities for the Assistant Manager during their absence.
