Senior Legal Executive Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Executive to join our team at Agensi Pekerjaan Minde Group Sdn Bhd. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Job Summary: The Senior Legal Executive will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance to various departments within the company, as well as managing the company's intellectual property portfolio and ensuring timely renewal of patent applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal Governance: Coordinate with HR to establish and monitor compliance with company policies, conduct annual training and briefings on established policies, and ensure that all employees understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a compliant work environment.
  • Patent Monitoring: Ensure timely renewal of patent applications, coordinate with patent agents on amendment of patent claims, and manage the company's patent portfolio to protect its intellectual property.
  • Contracts Management: Draft and review commercial contracts to ensure favorable terms for the company, assist departments in negotiating contracts, and ensure that all contractual agreements are properly documented.
  • Risk Management: Conduct legal risk assessments to identify potential risks, develop strategies to mitigate these risks, and ensure that the company has adequate insurance coverage to protect against unforeseen events.
  • Investor & Public Relations: Coordinate with IR/PR agents to manage the company's communication and public image, update and maintain the company's corporate profile and governance on digital platforms, and ensure that all communications are accurate and timely.
  • Litigation Support: Gather and compile evidence for litigation cases, coordinate with external counsel for legal representation, and ensure that all litigation matters are handled in a timely and professional manner.
  • Sustainability: Coordinate with external sources for sustainability reporting, collaborate with teams to integrate ESG considerations into decision-making, organize CSR activities throughout the year, and ensure that the company's sustainability goals are aligned with its overall business strategy.
  • Corporate Communications: Prepare content for the Annual Report, including the Letter to Shareholders, assist in preparing slides for the AGM and other corporate materials, and ensure that all communications are clear and concise.
  • Ad-hoc Duties: Handle ad-hoc tasks assigned by CEO/COO, assist with business/marketing tasks as required by senior management, manage external entities such as external counsel or auditors, and monitor and manage the legal department's budget.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law and Commerce
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an in-house counsel, preferably in the manufacturing sector
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong decision-making abilities
  • Collaborative team player with excellent project management skills
  • Knowledge of legal, corporate governance, and sustainability reporting
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing contracts, and managing legal risks
  • Ability to coordinate with external parties, including patent agents, counsel, and auditors

Estimated Salary Range: RM120,000 - RM180,000 per annum
