  • The Head of Business Development will play a pivotal role in driving business growth and expansion within the regional commercial organization.
  • This senior position involves overseeing the Business Development department with full P&L accountability, leading both financial and customer-focused operations.
  • The successful candidate will identify and pursue new business opportunities in the solar industry to drive growth, manage and build a strong management team for the commercial departments, and work closely with support functions and other departments to meet department goals.
  • Additionally, the Head of Business Development will monitor and analyze sales performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • They will develop expansion strategies to drive revenue growth, expand the customer base, and build a project organization to implement growth plans.
  • The role also involves establishing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems to ensure smooth operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • The Head of Business Development will successfully manage the execution of client contracts, from negotiation to closure, adhering to company policies.
  • They will develop a deep understanding of the industry, company products, services, and competitor offerings.
  • The role requires establishing organizational structures, staffing, and operating systems for new growth projects.
  • Furthermore, the Head of Business Development will implement systems and procedures to ensure business sustainability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • To oversee the Business Development department and drive business growth and expansion.
  • To lead financial and customer-focused operations, ensuring seamless integration between departments.
  • To identify and pursue new business opportunities in the solar industry.
  • To manage and build a strong management team for the commercial departments.
  • To work closely with support functions and other departments to meet department goals.

Requirements

">
  • A relevant degree in Engineering, Finance, or a Business discipline; an MBA is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar role within industrial sectors.
  • Preferred experience in a multinational company with established best practices; experience in managing renewable energy (solar) or related industries is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in business development within the renewable energy sector.
  • Business savvy with a successful track record in techno-commercial business development.
  • A strong cultural fit with the ability to embrace current values while acting as a change agent to foster the desired culture.
  • Cost conscious, performance-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement, with a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
