**JOB BRIEF**:
**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Team Leadership**:

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of professionals responsible for automation and monitoring initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.

**Strategic R&D**:

- Collaborate with the team to conduct research and development of new technologies in automation and monitoring.
- Assess emerging technologies and provide strategic forecasts to ensure the organization stays ahead in infrastructure innovation.

**Technology Implementation**:

- Drive the evaluation, selection, and introduction of advanced tools and technologies to enhance automation and monitoring processes.
- Ensure seamless integration of new solutions with existing systems.

**Automation and Efficiency**:

- Define and oversee strategies for automating routine IT operations and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Develop and implement scalable solutions using advanced scripting and automation tools.

**Monitoring & Optimization**:

- Ensure robust monitoring of infrastructure using state-of-the-art tools and practices.
- Continuously refine monitoring systems to enhance performance, uptime, and resource utilization.

**Incident & Change Management**:

- Act as the technical escalation point for major incidents and change requests, ensuring swift and effective resolutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement improvements based on incident analyses.

**Forecasting & Planning**:

- Anticipate future infrastructure needs based on organizational growth and emerging industry trends.
- Develop roadmaps and proposals for implementing future technologies and frameworks.

**On-Call Leadership**:

- Oversee the rotational after-hours support process and provide leadership during critical escalations.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- **Education**: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- **Experience**: 4-5 years of experience as a Wintel or Unix Systems Administrator, with 1-2 years in a leadership role.
- **R&D Focus**: Demonstrated ability to research, assess, and implement new technologies effectively.
- **Scripting Expertise**: Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Perl).
- **Linux Expertise**: Advanced troubleshooting skills with RHEL or other Linux OS (SUSE, Solaris).
- **Monitoring Tools**: Knowledge and hands-on experience with enterprise-class monitoring solutions (e.g., Elastic, Splunk, Dynatrace, Zabbix, Nagios).
- **Communication & Leadership**: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical ideas and influence stakeholders, and proven ability to lead and inspire teams to deliver high-quality results.
- **Presentation Skills**: Ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences effectively.

**DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS**
- **Automation Tools**: Expertise in tools like Ansible, Control-M, or Stonebranch, with experience leading automation projects.
- **PowerShell Proficiency**: Advanced PowerShell scripting capabilities.
- **Certifications**: Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCSA, RHCA, RHCE) are highly advantageous.
- **Database Knowledge**: Strong understanding of database query languages and optimization.
- **Programming**: Solid programming skills to support advanced automation initiatives.
