Business Development Manager

Location: Selangor, Malaysia

Salary Budget: up to RM 10k-12k/month

Role Overview:

As a Business Development Manager for Services
, you will be responsible for expanding the market share within the installed base and identifying new business opportunities with both existing and new customers. Your key objectives will include driving revenue growth, improving profitability, and fostering long-term business expansion. You will collaborate closely with industry business units, sales, and marketing teams to support mid-to-long-term growth within key accounts and dedicated customer bases.

Additionally, you will be responsible for deploying and rolling out the necessary capabilities alongside the service operations teams to deliver high-value service solutions in target markets. Your role will focus on ensuring competitiveness, defining value-added service solutions, and effectively communicating these solutions to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve Service Revenue Targets:
    Meet annual targets for services by executing business strategies.
  • Customer Engagement:
    Conduct regular customer visits to identify and follow up on new business opportunities.
  • Customer Needs Analysis:
    Understand customer pain points, needs, and aspirations, translating them into impactful service solutions that improve outcomes and drive profitable growth.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis:
    Analyze installed equipment, market trends, service requirements, and competitor activities to develop strategic sales initiatives.
  • Relationship Management:
    Establish and nurture direct and indirect relationships with key decision-makers, building a robust network within customer organizations.
  • Service Representation:
    Represent the full suite of service capabilities, including spare & wear parts, maintenance services, agreements, service projects, consulting, and digital services during customer engagements.
  • Product Portfolio Management:
    Manage the services product portfolio, overseeing successful market introductions of new products.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless communication between sales and service operations.
  • Pipeline Transparency:
    Ensure clear accountability and transparency in the sales pipeline by regularly updating and verifying leads and opportunities in the CRM system.
  • Market Insights:
    Provide regular market updates to senior management and relevant teams, offering insights into opportunities and challenges.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Educational Background:
    Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, and account management with a proven track record in the services sector.
  • Key Attributes:
    Strong learning agility, a results-driven approach, and an ownership mentality.
  • Business Acumen:
    Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, particularly in B2B industries.
  • Customer Orientation:
    High levels of curiosity and active listening skills to understand customer business needs and effectively translate those into solutions.

    Ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving & Negotiation:
    Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Relationship Building:
    High emotional intelligence, strong networking, and relationship management capabilities.
  • Financial Insight:
    Ability to quantify solutions in terms of financial benefits (e.g., Total Cost of Ownership, ROI).
  • Pricing & Selling Expertise:
    Expertise in strategic pricing, value selling, and understanding customer value chains.
  • Strategic Planning:
    Experience in business idea formulation, business plan development, and marketing strategy execution.
  • Cross-Business Expertise:
    Experience in selling cross-business solutions, including automation and digital solutions, and the ability to manage multi-segment market assignments.
  • Language Proficiency:
    Proficiency in English (both written and oral) is essential. Proficiency in Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin is a bonus, given the role's regional scope.
  • Travel Requirements:
    Willingness to travel within Malaysia and Singapore as needed.
