New Orange is a digital technology agency.With around 90 colleagues, we create digital solutions for clients such as Valk Exclusief, Baby Bunting, NDSM Apotheken, Boskalis, AGL and NVM. We work from offices in the Netherlands ('s-Hertogenbosch and Tuil), Australia (Melbourne) and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).

Your challengeAs a Technical Lead at New Orange Malaysia, you'll play a key role in driving technical quality across our development projects.

You're a strong backend-focused engineer with full-stack experience, comfortable working in both .NET and Node/React environments.

You combine deep technical knowledge with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

You'll work closely with your team in KL and our client teams in the Netherlands and Australia.

You provide architectural direction, review code, and help engineers grow. You're also hands-on where needed: building features, solving blockers, or leading technical deep-dives.

We're looking for someone who thrives on responsibility, communicates clearly, and sets the tone for quality and teamwork. With a drive to help your colleagues excel in their roles.

How we workAt New Orange, we work in multidisciplinary, international teams. As a Technical Lead, you are part of the delivery team and involved in both project execution and continuous improvement of our engineering practices.

We work in sprints, with close collaboration between our locations. You'll have the freedom to apply methods that suit the context — from architecture sketches to pair programming or spike solutions. You'll help shape the way we work, guide others, and contribute to the technical vision of our Malaysia team.

What you'll do
  • Lead technical decision-making within projects
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers and Architects across locations
  • Contribute to system architecture and help define technical direction
  • Review code, guide best practices and support quality in delivery
  • Coach and mentor team members in their growth
  • Spot bottlenecks, solve problems, and improve engineering processes
  • Stay on top of modern backend and full-stack trends, and introduce relevant ideas to the team

Who you are

  • You have 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, including experience in a lead or senior-level role
  • Strong backend development skills in .NET, with solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure)
  • You're familiar with and front-end technologies like React
  • You understand modern software development processes and CI/CD pipelines
  • You're proactive, hands-on, and know how to bring clarity to complex problems
  • You enjoy coaching others and working with distributed teams
  • You have excellent communication skills in English
