Job Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase marine-related equipment and materials such as engine spare parts, pumps, valves, bearings, hydraulic component, marine consumables (lubricants, chemicals, ropes, mooring equipment)
  • Obtain accurate quotations from local and international marine suppliers and ship chandlers.
  • Conduct price benchmarking and negotiate favorable terms, delivery lead times, and warranty conditions.
  • Manage procurement for dry-docking, repair works, vessel maintenance, and emergency breakdown purchases.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of approved marine vendors, shipyards, service providers, and OEM suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, reliability, compliance, delivery, and cost.
  • Ensure suppliers meet maritime industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to quality discrepancies, shipment delays, or non-compliance.
  • Prepare purchase orders (POs) and ensure accuracy in specifications, delivery dates, and pricing.
  • Track and expedite orders to meet operational schedules, particularly for vessel turnarounds and port calls.
  • Monitor procurement budgets for vessels and marine operations.
  • Analyze cost savings, price variances, and procurement efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Coordinate shipment arrangements including freight, customs clearance, and delivery to vessel, port, or shipyard.
  • Work with freight forwarders and port agents to ensure timely delivery to vessels.
  • Plan deliveries according to vessel schedules, ensuring minimal operational disruptions.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly procurement reports including outstanding orders, supplier status, and cost tracking.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of procurement data for audits and management review.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of procurement experience, preferably within the marine, maritime, offshore, shipping, or oil & gas industry.
  • Strong exposure to sourcing marine equipment, vessel spare parts, deck/engine consumables, safety equipment, and marine services.
  • Experience coordinating with shipyards, vessel suppliers, marine contractors, and technical departments.
  • Good understanding of marine equipment and spare parts (engine room parts, deck machinery, navigation equipment, mooring equipment, safety & survival gear).
  • Knowledge of contract negotiation, vendor sourcing, and cost evaluation.
  • Familiar with RFQ/RFP processes, purchasing cycles, incoterms, and purchase order systems.
  • Proficient in using procurement software (Odoo).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills when dealing with marine suppliers and contractors.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle urgent vessel requisitions or breakdown situations.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make fast, cost-effective decisions.
  • Good teamwork skills to collaborate with technical superintendents, marine engineers, operation teams, and finance.
  • Willingness to work outside normal hours when urgent vessel/ship procurement needs arise.
  • Able to travel occasionally to shipyards, vessel berths, warehouses, or supplier locations.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and compliance with procurement policies.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM6, RM6,500.00 per month
