Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Master's Degree is an added advantage).
• Registered Professional Engineer (Ir.) in Civil & Structural Engineering with BEM (Board of Engineers Malaysia).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil & structural engineering, with exposure to M&E coordination.
• Strong experience in industrial construction projects such as factories, warehouses, manufacturing plants, and heavy industrial facilities.
• Proven background in value engineering, cost optimization, and commercial awareness for industrial developments.
• Able to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin.

Technical Competencies

• Expertise in civil & structural design, construction methodology, and project execution for industrial buildings.
• Working knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical systems, including:
• Electrical distribution and power supply
• HVAC, ventilation, and cooling systems
• Process piping, plumbing, and drainage systems
• Fire protection and safety systems
• Proficient in engineering and coordination software:
• STAAD.Pro, ETABS, Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and MEP coordination tools
• Strong understanding of industrial construction regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
• Familiar with cost estimation, tender strategies, and budget control for large-scale industrial projects.

Job Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Strategic Planning

• Lead and manage all engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless integration of Civil & Structural (C&S) and M&E scopes.
• Establish engineering standards, policies, and best practices tailored for industrial construction.
• Provide technical and strategic advisory support to the Managing Director and senior management.

Industrial Expertise & Value Engineering

• Apply value engineering to optimize structural and M&E designs while controlling project costs.
• Propose cost-effective materials, systems, and construction methodologies.
• Collaborate with tender and commercial teams to develop competitive proposals.
• Ensure compliance with industry-specific requirements, particularly for Design & Build (D&B) projects.

C&S and M&E Coordination

• Oversee coordination between civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical works.
• Review M&E layouts, electrical loading, HVAC, fire protection, and process piping to ensure structural compatibility.
• Minimize design clashes and improve constructability through multidisciplinary coordination.

Project Management & Technical Oversight

• Review and approve designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Ensure engineering execution aligns with project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• Resolve technical challenges, site issues, and cross-discipline conflicts.

Regulatory Compliance & Authority Liaison

• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including:
• BEM, CIDB, DOSH
• Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission)
• TNB, IWK, JKR, and relevant authorities
• Act as Professional Engineer (PE) signatory for C&S designs.
• Lead authority submissions and approval processes for industrial projects.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of C&S and M&E engineers and drafters.
• Conduct technical training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Foster a collaborative, performance-driven engineering culture.

Innovation & Sustainability

• Stay updated on emerging construction technologies, materials, and engineering solutions.
• Implement BIM, advanced structural analysis, and MEP coordination tools to enhance efficiency.
• Propose cost-effective green building and sustainable design solutions for projects requiring green certification.
