The primary role of the Academic Governance Specialist is to lead several areas of responsibilities within the Academic and Research Governance portfolio which manages the University-level processes in assuring academic and research quality and compliance, including but not limited to course/program management, institutional academic and research performance reporting, quality reviews, policy development, and professional accreditation.

- Lead and manage academic and research governance, compliance, quality enhancement and reporting, audits, and policy review and development, in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines set by Monash University, TEQSA, MoHE, MQA, other regulatory agencies and professional accreditation bodies in Australia and Malaysia.
- Develop and review mechanisms to continually improve the quality and efficiency of internal processes to ensure they support the University’s Academic Quality and Standards, and compliance reporting obligations.
- Identify and drive system enhancements and improvements that support the implementation of process innovations and efficient operation of the Academic and Research Governance portfolio.
- Provide leadership and direction in the areas of responsibilities within the Academic and Research Governance portfolio, foster teamwork across the Quality and Governance Unit and manage workload allocations to deliver consistent high quality output.
- Manage the provision of administration and governance services including: providing specialist advice, facilitating communication and workflow, coordinating projects, producing and editing papers, briefings, presentations and other correspondence and co-ordinating and supporting seminars, meetings and working groups.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships with a network of colleagues and stakeholders to support and facilitate high-level and effective service delivery.

**Key Selection Criteria**
- A degree qualification or equivalent with relevant experience
- Highly-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes to complex issues
- Strong administrative skills, including demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, ability to draft and preparing a range of documentation and appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage time and plan work to meet deadlines
- A strong commitment to excellence in customer and a hands-on approach to service provision
