- Maximise commercial performance while managing business/project risk (pre-contract).
- Ensure compliance with relevant commercial/contracting policies.
- Pre-award activities including the pricing of proposals, performing commercial review of tender documents, preparing commercial proposals prior to submission for internal approval, preparing commercial qualifications and pricing notes, coordinating commercial and legal qualifications.
- Preparation of accurate estimates with due regard to competitor, supply chain and local market trends.
- Liaison with all key functions including Engineering, Tax, Global Mobility, Insurance, Legal, and Treasury to ensure proposals are aligned with Wood strategies and tender governance.
- Development of commercial strategies for opportunities.
- Development new commercial models, as required including incentive schemes and KPIs.
- Coordination of contract reviews and the development of qualifications/redlines in conjunction with the Contracts team to ensure the balance of risk is appropriate for the associated services and remuneration model.
- Support at risk review development workshops as necessary to develop the commercial response.
- Support development of Profit Improvement Plans for key opportunities.
- Review final submission documentation to ensure all commercial elements are reflected appropriately.
- Support pre-tender client engagements to influence commercial strategy and prepare pricing methodology.
- Ensure approval and administration of bonds, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees, exclusive arrangements, and letters of intent are complaint with relevant policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely provision of commercial / contract deliverables (e.g. bonds, PCGs, evidence of insurance).
- Preparation of project cashflow forecasts, in accordance with client contract requirements and Wood processes and procedures.
- The effective handover of commercial matters from pre-contract to post contract phase of projects.
- Oversees the full range of commercial activities across the pre-contract activities.
- Accountable for governance and assurance of commercial policies and processes within assigned sub-Business Group.
- Lead and assist in the development of other members of the team.
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, or similar discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Professional qualifications desirable but not essential.
- Experience in a similar role is required.
- Experience in negotiation of commercial models and contracts.
- Experience in drafting and interpretation of contractual documentation.
